Coorg
Place : Coorg
Distance from bangalore : 250 Km
Resort we stayed : http://www.porcupinecastle.com
Very nice, beautiful and well maintained resort. On the hill top. awesome view. Bit costly than the other resort but worth staying. Food is good. rooms are nice view from room is also good.
Activities : You can have tour of tea and coffee plantation. That is changed service. You can go for a trek.
The plan for Coorg trip was initiated by Ravneet, she was very excited about this outing because we never had any trip together. She told that she has some contact in Coorg and she can make booking for us. We all were fine with this plan but because of one or another reason we postponed the trip 2 times. First week of april was a long weekend and we decided to go on this weekend.
Per kismat mai kuch aur hi tha.
The trip was almost finalized, and we came to know that because of some unavoidable reasons Ravneet and Manoj could not join us. Amber was also OK to cancel the trip, ofcourse it was India-srilanka World cup final. But this time I was not in mood to postpone because of two reasons.
1. It was a long weekend
2. I did lot of oncall shuffling for this trip.
So Amber, Munna Bhaiya and I decided to go. This time we stayed at porcupine castle. http://www.porcupinecastle.com, a cool and calm place on the top of the hill. Beautiful view from the rooms, tasty food, good service made our trip extremely enjoyable.
DAY-1
Coorg is 260 KM from bangalore, and it takes good 5-6 hours drive to reach there. So we decided to start early morning so that we can reach there by 1 PM and can enjoy the match at resort. For the first time in my last 5 years memory, we started at 7:00 AM from our house. (boys can do anything for cricket. :P) We reached there by 1PM according to plan (with 2 breaks on the way). We savored each moment of the match and shout and danced a lot for India victory. More than the match, I was enjoying everybody's reaction on each ball. :D :D
DAY-2
We decided to stay at resort and explore the estate on this day. We did a good 4 km trek around the resort, which include very interesting coffee plantation trek to church on the next hill. I said interesting because they used Jesus statues to show direction. As showed in pic. In the evening, we took jeep safari to entire estate and enjoyed bone-fire at night.
DAY-3
Tal-Cauvery, The origin of Cauvery river, around 70km from our resort and 40 km from Madikeri town. We decided to leave little early to have a good view. Believe me, that was the most
awesome view which I had in my last 3 coorg visits.
Once you reach to Tal-Cauveri, there is a high peak on right hand side, having well structured steps to climb. From the top you can have full 360 degree panoramic view (of brahmagiri ranges of western ghats). You can also see Arabian sea on a clear day. Worth climbing around 500 steps(one way).
Forgot to mention Amber took his SLR camera and clicked countless pics. Some of them are really awesome. He is getting better day by day with the camera. :)
