2010- eventful year

3 different countries (Srilanka, US and Thailand) visited, 5 tours in india- Kodaikanal, hogenakkal fall, Bandipur-Madumalai-ooty,  pachamadi and Allahabad. One trip to home town Kareli(mother’s place) and 2 trips to Patna(mother in law’s place). Attended two friends’s marriage/reception, Met many college friends and old colleagues, one dance performance and uncountable parties.
            Lets have a quick round of all the tours :

Srilanka : This was my first trip(non-official) outside India. We booked the flights from Chennai to Colombo. When we booked the flights we were going alone. But gradually Surya-Ramya and Anand-Shweta joined us. We went to Colombo, Negembo, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Hickaduwa, Bentota, Adams Peak, Galle. Wonderful trip.  Completed 14 Km trekking to-fro Adams peak and Scuba  diving. Tea factory, horse riding, catamaran sailing were other hightlights of the trips.

US : It was the short and sweet trip. Covered Santa Monia beach, Universal and Hollywood In California. Museum, The bean, sears tower in Chicago. Met a friend and his wife.

Kodaikanal : Stayed at “Elephant vally” one of the best resorts I have been till now. We stayed at tent house and I loved it. It was my birthday and I want to thank my husband to make my birthday so special. We had campfire on my birthday night and we cut the cake outside, close to fire with romantic music.
First time I experienced the real horse riding in the forest through one small river, and  believe me it’s not same as on the flat surface. Saw many waterfalls, and enjoyed great food.

  I did not do a good job in writing the blogs on time in last 2 years, so thought of at least writing the year 2023 recap on time. Scandinavia: Tryst with Northern Lights (Oct 2023)

Scenic Scandinavia: Our tryst with Aurora Borealis (a.k.a. Northern Lights) Aurora Borealis - Dream come true I think people fall in love with Scandinavia (especially Norway) in their childhood, when they study about "Land of Midnight Sun" or "Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis". We were no different. It had been a childhood dream of my husband and me to see these wonders with our naked eyes. We were fortunate enough to live one of these dreams - to see powerful northern lights, dancing in the dark sky, filling it with green, pink, red colours as if playing Holi (festival of colours) with the heavens and decorated with countless shining stars. The planning started in July, when incidentally one of our friends, Sahil, mentioned that seeing northern lights was one of their dreams too. I immediately started a joint trip. Nandi hills : Trekking path

Nandi hills : Trekking path Place : Nandi Hills Distance from Bangalore : Around 60 km Trip type : Day trip/Half day trip Day of travel : 3rd August trekking length/Duration : Approx 4 km (to and fro). 1-1.5 hour If you are staying in Bengaluru then you must have been to Nandi hills. If you have been to Nandi Hills then you must be knowing that one can drive till the hill top. Then why trekking??? This trekking path will offer you completely different view which is not available from the top of Nandi Hills. The trek starts from backside of the paved road. The trek is very well carved stepped path. Throughout the trek is green and scenic. If you are not used to steps then you might find it hectic, take rest in between. This is best trekking path if you are beginner or with kids. My 8 year son completed the trek without getting tired.
