Madhai : Satpura range
Madai : Tiger Reserve and Tawa Dam
Place - Madhai, Hoshangabad, M.P.
Closest airport - Bhopal
Closest train station - Hoshangabad or Piparia
Place we stayed - Wildernest by goldmark ( http://goldmarkresorts.com/wildernest/)
About the place - Tawa Reservoir is a reservoir on the Tawa River in central India. Satpura Tiger Reserve (STR) also known as Satpura National Park is located in the Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh in India. It's name is derived from the Satpura range. It covers an area of 524 km2 (202 sq mi). Satpura National Park, along with the adjoining Bori and Pachmarhi wildlife sanctuaries, provides 2,200 km2 (850 sq mi) of unique central Indian highland ecosystem.
Madhai is located at the entrance of the most exquisite and beautiful forests in India - Satpura. Few places in the world can compete with its raw wilderness, absolute tranquility and the air of mystique. It delights you with its rich wildlife, sprawling meadows, unending backwaters and spell-binding views that leave you awestruck and get you to be completely in sync with the magic of nature.
About our trip - We started from home by noon, Though it was only 130 Km from my hometown but the roads were not good so it took us around 4 hours to reach our resort. The resort was beautiful, had all amenities like playground, pool and indoor games. Since we planned this trip at the last minute and it was Christmas time, we did not get rooms in MP Tourism hotels. We reached the place by evening. Somehow the electricity was not working only for the rooms we booked. This was remote/forest area so the electrician took lot of time to come and fix the issue. Meanwhile, we enjoyed the evening tea with snacks and bonfire.
This place offers Jeep Safari and Boat safari both. There are mainly 2 sections for Jeep Safari, one is in core zone and another one is in buffer zone. Core zone safari is operated exclusively by MP tourism, takes you deep inside the forest and hence has higher chances of spotting wild animals. The buffer zone area is open for all and has lower the chances of spotting animals.
We did Boat safari/cruise and spotted many migratory birds, peacocks and spotted a herd of wild boar drinking water. Even if a person don't spot the many wild animals, the cruise itself is very beautiful and scenic.

On the way back to resort after rafting we encountered huge herd of buffaloes. There were around 100s of Buffaloes on the road and because of this we covered 2 kms in 45 minutes. 🐃🐃We also observed various kind of rare plants, fruits and flowers on the way. The best part about the resort was the good food it served (all vegetarian). Overall it was a nice break from the work, not too far away from my home town.
