Kaji kalla halli betta - Night trek
Kaji kalla halli betta - Night trek
Place : Kaji kalla halli betta - Near Chhota ladhak, Kolar.
Distance from Bangalore : Around 60 km
Trip Duration : 3 hour
Day of travel : 5th Dec 2021
This was again one of the last minute unplanned trips which turned out to be a good fun, thrill and adventure.
At around 9:30PM we (I, My husband, his cousin Rohit & his wife Madhu) decided to go for a long drive and have some coffee along the way. We reached The Empire restaurant (on NH75 towards Kolar), at around 10PM. While having coffee at Empire, NH75 Kolar highway, we decided to go for Antargange trek. I had seen couple of night trek posts in facebook, so we thought it should be ok to trek at night. If you want to know details about Antargange trek, read this blog.
The place where we decided for night trek |
At around 11PM we reached Antargange trek starting point. After climbing till the temple, we reached to the point where we hit the forest area, we saw a board telling not to venture beyond without permission.
As responsible citizens, though disappointed, we headed back. But since I was already in trekking mode, I was not in mood to go back home without trekking. While coming back we saw lights in one of the hills. I told amber "I want to go to that hill". Since we did not know the name of the hill, we searched based on the location (temples near me) and figured out that it's called Kaji kalla halli betta. We put the route on map and reached base location at around 11.45 PM. We parked the car and started to walk towards the hill. Since the path was well visible and well formed we decided to climb it. (Luckily there was no board 😀)
Towards the Hill |
Trek path |
This was my first night trek. I was super thrilled and excited. To be honest, I don't know the distance of the trek and how much time took. We all were little scared, very alert for any animal sound and too focused to be in the right path. We lost track of time, but after discussing a lot on the way and after couple of break we reached to top around 1 AM. There was small Hanuman temple at the end, But I could still see 1 light on top of the hill. Even after searching a lot in dark, I could not find the path for that light and everyone was tired of my over excitement so I gave up at last 😆. We climbed down relatively quickly, may be in 10-15 mins. We reached home at around 2.00 AM.
Almost there |
It was quick impromptu first night trek. I hope you liked reading this.
