Trip planning: Ever since we shifted to our new home in August, we were blessed to have our family members (from both sides) visiting us and staying with us. In fact, we tried for Mangalore trip in September/October itself when my father & mother were here, but it could not materialize because we couldn't get a decent accommodation. Tatva and Amber were really missing beach and sea, also Amber was getting desperate to take our new car on a long trip. It had been raining continuously in Bangalore and we were really hoping to get to a warm place. With all these factors in mind, by November end we decided to give Mangalore another try. With our dear friend Nasreen's help we could finally book a cottage in Camp 21. So, with my mother-in-law, we 4 people set out for Mangalore trip.

On the way

Day1: We started as per plan by 7:15AM in the morning. The highway till Hassan is awesome and we covered that in almost 3.5 hours with a breakfast break after Nelamangala. The 60km stretch from Hassan till Sakaleshpur is in bad condition. Road construction for the first 30 km and then washed away roads (due to heavy rains) in the ghat section, takes almost 2 hours to cross that section. The after that is again in very good condition. We stopped at B C Road for lunch and reached Camp 21 by 4PM. We were greeted by soothing sound of waves. Our cottage was at the beach front, quite spacious. We changed quickly and within no time, we all were inside the sea. The sea was a bit rough but not enough to deter us from getting into it. My mother-in-law was a bit scared in the beginning, but I must say that after initial fear was overcome, she was the one who enjoyed the most and always eager to get into water. Though she was very concerned about Tatva venturing into sea :-)

In the evening Resort owner Mr. Hameed came to meet us. We came to know to that he is Nasreen's relative. He made sure that our stay in the resort was memorable one. We had evening snacks and dinner at the resort. After a stroll on the beach we went to bed.

Day2: We woke to a nice weather and after breakfast, we all were in the sea. Enjoyed for an hour or so.

Beautiful morning @ beach

After lunch, late afternoon, plan was to go for boating in mangrove forest. The starting place is walking distance from the camp. The boating which I believe lasted for 20 mins was memorable, the view was breathtaking. We walked back to the resort alongside the beach and watched a lovely sunset.

For the evening, we did a barbeque on the beach which the resort was happy to organize for us. The food was delicious and the feeling ecstatic. Both veg and non-veg varieties were tasty. We were full till the throat when we decided it was enough.

Day3: Mostly a leisure day, spent morning in the sea. We had tender coconut water freshly harvested from the trees inside the resort.

In afternoon, we decided to have icecream, after much research went to Pabba's. To our surprise, there was a huge waiting queue there. We were astonished to see a queue for a place which serves mostly icecream. Spent evening in the sea watching beautiful sunset.

Day4: Started day early morning and went for deep sea swimming (with life jackets). It was absolute fun. Had breakfast and then we checked out at around 11:30AM. We visited Mr. Hameed's farmhouse where we got coconuts and banana bunch for Nasreen and us. Return drive was a bit more hectic, especially a huge jam at Nelamangala junction. We arrived back by 9:00PM.

Overall, we all had a very enjoyable trip and quality family time.
